FireStar Story

FireStar Ranch is a 40+ acre facility and is home to our small herd of horses, a couple of dogs, our cat and a variety of neighborhood inhabitants including a herd of white tail deer, a few elk, a couple dozen wild turkeys, and just about anything else you'd expect to find up here in the wilds of North Idaho.

Our herd of horses has whittled down from seven to four and soon down to three.  Atrevido is our Spanish Andalusion stallion (bay), Leyenda is our Anadalusion mare (grey), and Maggie (AQHA Joetta Bert) is our foundation quarterhorse mare (black).  Thinking that coming from California they would all require indoor accomodations in the winter, we built a fantastic steel framed barn, but our horses had other ideas and have lived outside in oversized acre+ paddocks ever since we arrived nearly 6 years ago!  They love the outdoors and even without a blanket in the winter, they stay warm and happy!

We're excited to see the offspring that Atrevido and Leyenda will produce.  Both are personable and always interested to see what you are up to.  Both are very well proportioned, solid and extremely easy keepers.  We expect their offspring will be much the same!

This past year we opted to thin our herd a little further and we were very fortunate to find an excellent home for Naught N Charge (aka "Charlie").  Charlie moved across town and is resideing with some friends of ours who plan to train, ride and eventually breed Charlie.  It will be fun to keep up on her progress.

Probably one of the toughest decisions we've had to make in the recent past was to part with Smoothie.  Smoothie was our American Quarterhorse Stallion.  After much discussion and deliberation, we found Smoothie a home locally with a great family, tons of stallion experience and exciting plans to train, ride, show and breed him in the very near future.  He's only a half hour away, so we can always visit and check in on his progress! Here's Smoothie's new home: http://cspaintquarterhorses.com/stallions.htm
